Vehicle bodies and service compartments
Vehicle hardware is opened many times a day, often with one hand, and has to stay shut on a corrugated road. Body builders and converters use push-to-close latches for lockers, toolbox locks for external boxes and compression latches for anything that must seal.
What to decide
Selection factors for vehicle bodies and service compartments, in the order they usually come up.
One-handed use
Push-to-close latches slam shut and release with a key or button. The 254 series adds a padlock device for external lockers.
External toolboxes
The 261 and 262 truck toolbox locks are stainless steel or black steel, keyed alike or with a padlock device.
Sealing against dust
Compression latches with a pinchweld or foam gasket keep road dust out of lockers and interior cabinets. Fit the gasket to the closed door gap shown on the drawing.
Interior cabinets
Mobile clinic and camper interiors use mini push-to-close locks, cam locks with wing knobs and small leaf hinges. Polyamide bodies save weight.
Handles
Aluminium and plastic grab handles from 115 mm to 500 mm.
