Generator canopies
Canopy doors are large, vibrate constantly and live outdoors. The hardware has to hold the door tight against its seal, survive the vibration, and be padlockable where site rules require it.
What to decide
Selection factors for generator canopies, in the order they usually come up.
Vibration
Compression latches and swing handles keep the door under load against the gasket, so it cannot rattle open. Toggle latches (721 series) suit removable acoustic panels.
Padlocking
Swing handles and push-to-close latches are offered with a padlock device, and the 721-V5/V6 toggle latches take a padlock directly.
Material and finish
Zinc die-cast bodies in black or chrome, and stainless steel push-to-close latches, are listed. Finish is stated on every product from the catalogue description; no corrosion performance is claimed beyond that.
Door sealing
Pinchweld gaskets (402 series) grip the folded edge of a canopy door; sold per metre.
Ventilation
Snap-in plastic vents and 250 × 250 mm shutters cover small ventilation openings in doors and panels.
